Education, networking and fun topped the agenda at the California Landscape Contractors Association’s annual Summer Family Extravaganza, held in July at the Squaw Valley Resort. The alpine venue offered many opportunities for networking, giving contractors a chance to share and learn from their colleagues.
For fun, attendees golfed, river rafted and played softball (Rick LaMantain in the ever-popular North vs. South Softball Game.)
CLCA President Heath Bedal (seen here warming up the audience prior to the Special Membership Meeting that saw the approval of bylaws amendments regarding chapter governance and committee leadership) explained that the event would focus on practical advice and strategic vision.
Bedal presnts Gary Vallen his Life Membership. John David was also made a Life Member.
CLCA Director of Resource Management Frank Niccoli shared his expertise during a training session on sustainable landscaping.
Keynote Brad Hams pitched the concept of “Ownership Thinking,” a 21st century business model. Don DeFever clp found the presentation “outstanding.” Speaking later from his office, he said that he “used the principles in a staff meeting this morning. By looking at cost controls and revenue streams, our employees are empowered to make decisions for the betterment of the company and our clients.“ The Brad Hams’ seminar was brought to you by Landscape Contractors Insurance Services, Inc.
Attendees also profited from one-on-one business coaching sessions (Coach Robyn Stein with Mike Garcia and Dan Gromer). All told, it was a successful and profitable Summer Family Extravagazna. “I got a lot out of it,” DeFever said, “I profited by attending. Those who didn’t attend really missed out.”
