CLCA President Peter Dufau, CLT, kicked off the event at the Welcome Reception by explaining the offerings of the next three days and admonishing the golfers not to miss the 5:45 a.m. bus to the greens the next morning. Sacramento Valley Chapter President Mike Mitchell won a suitcase full of trophies for his outstanding play in that Associate Member Organization Golf Tournament. The golf tourney organizer, Associate Member Director Barry Elder, Jr., left, poses with Mitchell at the Golf Awards Luncheon. Proceeds from the tournament went to the Landscape Educational Advancement Foundation (LEAF). That afternoon Women's Auxiliary President Debilyn Kinzler chaired a joint business meeting of the Women's Auxiliary and LEAF.

Later that afternoon and the following morning, Keynote Speaker Paul Johnson outlined his strategies to "triumph from trouble," including how CLCA members can find new opportunities in niche markets. After a poolside barbecue in the middle of the day and some free time in the afternoon, the Women's Auxiliary hosted a fund-raiser with great food and drink, a silent auction and raffle, and all kinds of games, including this bicycle race with blindfolded riders paired teammates giving verbal instructions. On the third and last day of the event, participants attended the General Membership Meeting in the morning and enjoyed an "Old West" barbecue with Irrigation Association leaders in the evening. At the membership meeting Jim Bonfield of TeleDirect Call Centers explained the details of a sophisticated and cost-effective new marketing and appointment scheduling service for CLCA members.

Mike Baron, the chairman of CLCA's Resource Management Committee, helped two singing cowboys entertain the group at the barbecue. A bandit briefly disrupted the festivities. And IA Executive Director Deborah Hamlin and CLCA Executive Director Sharon McGuire compared notes on their respective organizations and very successful Utah meetings.
