When talking about the California Landscape Contractors Association's 2007 annual convention, Events Committee Co-Chair Mike Hertzer was all smiles.

CLCA members shared his excitement during several networking opportunities (pictured left to right: Bill Schnetz, Michelle Gaspar, Patrick Carpenter). Members say that networking opportunities are one of the most valuable benefits of CLCA events.

The Events Committee made sure there were plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas, renew acquaintances and make new friends (L-R: Elizabeth Burns, Jon Goldstein, Gary Vallen).

The convention was held in America's Music City — Nashville, Tennessee, at the lush Gaylord Opryland Resort.

Radio personality Devon O'Day [L] and famed singer/songwriter Kim McLain provided attendees with a taste of Nashville and an insider's look at the music industry.

Seeking to immerse themselves in the Country/Western experience, Kristi Knoch and Tom Ellington made a fashion statement as they tried to blend in with the locals.

Others just smiled and enjoyed the resort's many ways to have a good time (Rick and Sandi LaMantain).

During the convention, members elected CLCA 2008 officers and directors (2008 President Elect Heath Bedal with 2008 President Pete Dufau).

Life Memberships were presented to Richard Plaxco [L] and Tom Lucas [R], shown with 2007 President Peter Estournes.

As always, one of the highlights of the convention was the high-energy Trophy Awards ceremonies (Rick LaMantain [L] presents Stuart J. Sperber Memorial Sweepstakes Award to Jeff Tobias of Landscapes By Jeffery.

Another convention highlight was Mikki Williams, who gave a fascinating presentation on "A Balancing Act: Walking The Tightrope Of Life" that moved attendees to laugh, cry and give a hearty "Yo!"

Members took Mikki's message to heart, dancing the Funky Chicken during the General Jackson showboat dinner show. (Events Committee Co-Chair Nelson Colvin, Elizabeth Burns and Gordon Larson).
