How Does BTATW Work?

We'll have you up-and-running in no time!

Getting Started

To install the software, exit out of all programs. Insert the Better Than A Thousand Words (BTATW) CD into your computer.

If your computer has the “Auto-Play” feature turned on, BTATW will automatically start installing itself.

If Auto-Play doesn’t launch within a couple minutes, go to Start menu, choose Run and enter D:/setup.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Learning To Use The Software

The Overview Movie will introduce you to the software and the power of Better Than A Thousand Words. Watch the Overview Movie by choosing Training on the menu toolbar, and then clicking Overview.

The Movie Player looks and operates like a VCR. It features several buttons — “Play,” “Pause,” “Stop,” “Rewind,” “Close” and “Volume Control” that operate much as you would expect.

The “Tutorial Movie” will walk you through the six steps of designing images. Watch the “Tutorial Movie” by choosing Training on the menu toolbar, and then clicking Tutorial.

To access an individual instructional movie for a specific tool, choose the Help Movies icon. Your cursor will change into a question mark. Then, click on the tool you would like to see a movie about.

System Requirements: Windows 2000, Windows ME or Windows XP.

Installation Notes

If you have already installed the Better Than A Thousand Words software on your computer, you need to un-install the old version before you can install this new version. Follow these easy steps:

1. If you saved any image files in your CLCABTATW folder, move them to a different folder (ideally in the My Documents folder).

2. If you are running anti-virus software, turn it off. If you are not running anti-virus software, buy some immediately — and use it.

3. Click on the Start Menu and open Control Panels.

4. Double click on the Add Or Remove Programs control panel.

5. In the Add Or Remove Programs control panel, click once on the Better Than A Thousand Words line. Click Change/Remove.

6. After you have removed the software, you may need to manually delete your CLCABTATW folder. Search for this folder (Start Menu >> Search >> Search All Files And Folders). If you find a folder named CLCABTATW, left click on it to highlight the file, then right click and select Delete.

7. Empty your Recycle Bin.

8. Discard your old Better Than A Thousand Words CD. Insert the new CD in your drive and follow the on-screen instructions.

9. When you are prompted for the registration code (PKC), enter the 14 digit code that was previously mailed to you. Do not enter 14 zeroes. The software will access the Internet to validate your code. Depending on how your computer is configured, you may need to manually connect to the Internet before registering the software.

10. You will need an additional registration code to access the download center. You may obtain a download registration code by sending an email to hq@clca.org. Please put the phrase download registration code in the subject line.

11. Re-activate your anti-virus software. If you are not running anti-virus software, buy some immediately -- and use it.

12. You are now ready to use your new software! Recommended: Set your Autosave feature (Program Menu >> Program Defaults) to save every 10 minutes.
